The California Transparency in Supply Chains Act (the “Act”) requires certain retail sellers and manufacturers that do business in California to disclose their efforts to eradicate slavery and human trafficking from its supply chain for tangible goods offered for sale. Parr Lumber offers the following information to comply with the Act.
Parr Lumber is committed to fair labor practices within our supply chain. Parr Lumber acquires substantially all of its lumber and most other construction supplies from mills and manufacturers located in the United States and Canada. Parr Lumber has confidence in law enforcement in the United States and Canada to enforce the laws that prohibit human trafficking and slavery. Parr Lumber believes that extraordinary measures by Parr Lumber to detect and prevent such acts are unlikely to be more effective than those undertaken by law enforcement. As a result, the Company believes that the following evidences a reasonable response to these issues.
- Verification: Parr Lumber does not regularly engage in verification of our product supply chain to identify, assess and manage risks of human trafficking using internal resources or through a third-party.
- Auditing: Parr Lumber does not regularly conduct audits of suppliers to evaluate supplier compliance with Parr Lumber’s standards for human trafficking and slavery in its supply chain.
- Certification: As of September 1st, 2015, Parr Lumber requires new direct suppliers to certify in writing that materials incorporated into its product comply with the laws regarding anti-slavery and human trafficking laws in the country or countries in which they do business.
- Internal Accountability: Parr Lumber does not maintain internal accountability standards and procedures for employees or contractors who fail to meet Parr Lumber’s standards regarding slavery and trafficking, but will handle all such instances that come to its attention on a case by case basis.
- Training: Parr Lumber trains its employees in the supply chain department on the supplier certification requirements related to anti-slavery and human trafficking laws specified in Item 3. Parr Lumber provides no other training on human trafficking and slavery to its employees or contractors.
